The Pale Morning Dun fly pattern is a dun fly great for summer fishing. Pale Morning Duns or PMD in short are Missoula’s premier summer mayfly hatch. Beginning in late June through late July, the PMD hatch in Montana lures fish to the surface in great numbers.  However, they also appear in May and can continue through August.

It is advisable to have this fly in different sizes in order to match  the stage the trout is eyeing as it can vary across the waters. The best time of the day for PMD hatch is in the late morning to early afternoon.

Good for Brown Troutm Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout etc.
