Hornberg Fly

The Hornberg fly was created by Frank Hornberg and it is a utility pattern. It is a classic trout fly pattern that can be used either as a Dry Fly or as a Streamer. It can also be tied in a wet or dry style but it’s thought to imitate a hopper on the surface or a small Minnow under the surface.

The Hornberg is a type of fishing fly that is commonly used for trout and other freshwater game fish. It is a wet fly that imitates a variety of aquatic insects, such as caddisflies and stoneflies.

The Hornberg is a type of fishing fly that is commonly used for trout and other freshwater game fish. It is a wet fly that imitates a variety of aquatic insects, such as caddisflies and stoneflies.

The Hornberg fly typically features a peacock herl body, brown hackle, and white wings made of duck or turkey quill. The fly’s head is usually formed by wrapping thread around the base of the wings.

The Hornberg fly is a popular pattern among anglers and can be used in a variety of situations, including fast-flowing streams and slow-moving rivers. It is especially effective during the summer months when trout are more active and feeding on insects near the surface of the water.

There are many color variations of the Hornberg pattern such as Black, Brown, Natural, Olive, Tan and  Yellow and it’s a great pattern to have in one’s fly box

Nowadays the pattern has become a favorite Fly among many fishermen.
